Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Every visit passes through Cloudflare's network, which processes your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser and operating system, and the referring page, in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare keeps these logs for a short time under its own policy. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and a data processing agreement with standard contractual clauses is in place. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a secure, fast website.
Fonts and media
All fonts, pictures and videos are served from this site. Your browser makes no requests to Google or any other font or video service.
Cookies and storage on your device
This site sets no cookies of its own, stores nothing on your device and does not recognise you from one visit to the next. Cloudflare may set a short-lived, strictly necessary security cookie to tell people from bots (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). When you press a Copy button, the text goes to your clipboard; it is not sent anywhere.
Visitor statistics
We count visits with PostHog to see how the site is used, without cookies: nothing is stored on your device and nobody is recognised on a later visit. The site reports which page you open and when, the page you came from, the rough size of your browser window (one of five widths and one of five shapes, to see which layouts matter), and what your browser tells every website anyway: browser, operating system and language. It also counts clicks on a few named buttons: the Copy buttons, Show all 34, GitHub, Get method34 free, Work with me, Research with me, and Say hi. When you send a message through the form, it reports the subject you chose, nothing else. It does not report your exact screen or window size, time zone, anything you type, or any other click, and it makes no recordings. To tell visitors apart within a day, PostHog turns your IP address and browser into a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you; the IP address itself is not kept. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used; you may object at any time (see "Your rights").
Provider: PostHog Inc., 2261 Market Street #4008, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA. The data is stored in PostHog's EU cloud in Frankfurt, Germany, and reaches it through this site's own address. PostHog and its subprocessors may also process it in the USA, for example for support and security; for this PostHog is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and our data processing agreement with PostHog includes the EU standard contractual clauses. The data is deleted after one year at the latest.
Contact form
When you write through the form we receive your name, email address, the subject you choose and your message. We use them only to answer you. The form is processed by Cloudflare (see above) and delivered by email to my Gmail inbox (see "Email" below). I also get a short notice in Telegram (Telegram Messenger) that a message has arrived, with its subject only: no name, address or text. Spam protection uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser and IP address to tell people from bots without cookies (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Legal basis for your message: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where it concerns a commission, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We delete messages once your request is settled, at the latest after 12 months, unless the law requires us to keep them longer (for example invoices).
Messages from the contact form reach a Gmail inbox through Cloudflare Email Routing (Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Mail you send to sayhi@method34.dev, reception@method34.dev or privacy@method34.dev goes to the same inbox. Google may process data in the USA and is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We use your email only to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete it under the same rule as form messages.

Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
